Opening its doors in early May 2007 in Flemington, New Jersey, the Schotland Gallery is one of very few in the state devoted to photographic art. The venue for the gallery is unique and first-rate in every respect. It is housed in a recently restored magnificent 1858 building. The Schotland Gallery provides the collecting community with a unique opportunity to view the works of talented established artists as well as emerging artists before they become widely known. A number of artists represented by the gallery have received awards and coverage in prominent shows and publications. Others are emerging talents whose work is expected to garner critical and popular recognition in the years to come. The gallery program reflects the passion of its director, Ronald S. Schotland, for photographic art and the possibilities that it offers to engage viewers in an emotional and intellectual experience with art. Schotland has been a lifelong photographer. He also founded and for thirty years operated an international consulting, exposition and conference management company. His background brings with it an appreciation of how and why visual art can evoke deep emotional responses in viewers, and an understanding of their needs. With this experience comes his ability to discover unique artists and to bring their artistic vision to viewers and collectors. |
